Egon Guttman

Egon Guttman (January 27, 1927 in Neuruppin, Germany - August 13, 2021) was professor of law and Levitt Memorial Trust Scholar Emeritus at American University, Washington College of Law.

His family moved to Berlin when he was three years old, where he and his sister and brother Herman were taunted as Jewish kids.

After surviving the Holocaust, Guttman emigrated to the United States in 1958 and was naturalized in 1968.

Guttman studied post-graduate in Northwestern University School Law, Chicago (1959).

As a member of the American Law Institute (ALI) and the American Bar Association (ABA), Professor Guttman was involved in the revisions of various Articles of the Uniform Commercial Code, and as a member of U.S. Department of State Working Groups in the drafting of conventions relating to international commercial transactions.
