E. Florence Whitlock

Ellen Florence Williams Whitlock (10 November 1889 – 13 October 1978) was a British composer, conductor and educator who was known professionally as E. Florence Whitlock.

[1] She studied violin with H. V. Pearce and Hans Wessely, piano with Frederick Moore, composition with Alan Bush, and performed with the Camborne and Redruth Oratorio Orchestra.

From 1911 to 1912, she taught in Bury St. Edmunds and later in Taunton and Ashford, Kent, where she also conducted the local orchestra.

She taught violin, cello, and chamber music at Iona College from 1928 to 1935.
