Ellery Akers

Ellery Akers (born 1946) is an American writer and artist living on the Northern California Coast.

[1] She is the author of three poetry collections: Swerve: Environmentalism, Feminism, and Resistance; Practicing the Truth and Knocking on the Earth,[2] as well as a children's novel, Sarah’s Waterfall.

[4] Her maternal grandfather was architect John Russell Pope.

[5] Akers is a distant relative of William Ellery, a jurist and signer of the United States Declaration of Independence.

Among her honors are fellowships from the MacDowell Colony,[13] Ucross Foundation,[14] and Headlands Center for the Arts.
