Elmo Bolton Hunter

He was a law clerk to Judge Kimbrough Stone of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit from 1938 to 1939.

He was a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri and District of Kansas for prosecution of war fraud cases from 1941 to 1942.

He served in the United States Army as a Lieutenant during World War II, from 1942 to 1945.

[1] On July 14, 1965, Hunter was nominated by President Lyndon B. Johnson to a seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri vacated by Judge Floyd Robert Gibson.

Hunter was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 11, 1965, and received his commission the same day.
