Eloína Miyares Bermúdez

With her husband, philologist Julio Vitelio Ruiz Hernández, she founded the Center for Applied Linguistics of Santiago de Cuba (CLA).

Eloina Miyares Bermudez studied at the Escuela Normal de Oriente, from which she graduated in 1947.

She first served as a teacher of rural areas in the municipality of Palma Soriano, where she participated in the literacy campaign.

She then studied at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Santiago de Cuba, graduating with a degree in Letters.
