[2][3][4] Emibai was born in 1878 in Paneli Moti, a village in Rajkot district of Gujarat, during the time of British India.
[5] She was a Gujarati Khoja of Nizari Isma'ili Shi’a Muslim background.
[8] Jinnah complied with his mother's wishes and married Emibai at Paneli Village.
[9][10] Shortly after the wedding, Jinnah left for England to engage in higher academic studies.
[11] Affected by this tragedy, it was 25 years before Jinnah chose to marry again.
