Emma Previato

Emma Previato (November 29, 1952 – June 29, 2022) was an Italian–born American professor of mathematics at Boston University.

[1] Her research concerned algebraic geometry and partial differential equations.

She served as editor or co-editor of 6 books,[1] including Dictionary of Applied Math for Engineers and Scientists (2002, CRC Press).

[5] In 2003, she received the Mathematical Association of America Northeastern Section's Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics for her work in and out of the classroom, especially her mentoring of students.

She earned undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Padua before beginning her PhD at Harvard.
