Eric Xing

He has served as a visiting associate professor at Stanford University, and as a visiting research professor at Facebook Inc. Xing is also a Co-founder and Chief Scientist of GenBio AI [5] and the Founder, Chairman, and former Chief Scientist and CEO of Petuum Inc.[6] Xing received a B.Sc.

Xing became a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University in 2004, directing the SAILING Lab,[7] whose research spans a broad spectrum of topics ranging from theoretical foundations to real-world applications in machine learning, distributed systems, computer vision, natural language processing, and computational biology.

[14] With his collaborators, Xing developed the Petuum framework for distributed machine learning with massive data, big models, and a wide spectrum of algorithms.

[16] Xing is a recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Career Award[17] and the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship.

[19] In 2019, he was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)[20] for “contributions to machine learning algorithms and systems”.
