Frederick Ernest Gilliat-Smith (1858–1935) was an English Catholic poet and author of historical non-fiction.
Gilliat-Smith was born in Woodmansterne, Surrey, on 8 July 1858.
He married Elinor Cockerell, with whom he had three children, Bernard, Guy[1] and Monica.
After living some years in Bruges, Belgium, he moved to Rome in 1913.
[2] Gilliat-Smith was a contributor to the Dublin Review, The Tablet, the American Ecclesiastical Review, the Irish Ecclesiastical Record, Catholic World, and the Catholic Encyclopedia.
