Upon being term-limited, he ran for the congressional seat at Manila's 1st district in 2016 under Asenso Manileño, but lost to Manny Lopez.

In 2022, he ran under Asenso Manileño for the congressional seat at Manila's 1st district and won, unseating Manny Lopez of the Duterte-backed PDP–Laban.

[5] He was later named as an assistant majority floor leader in the House of Representatives.

[7] In 2024, he left Asenso Manileño party and eventually backed Isko Moreno's bid for a mayoral comeback in 2025.

He remained with Lakas–CMD despite the entry of Asenso Manileño's leader, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, who will run against Moreno.
