According to some scientists the Tartar Sand Boa is viviparous, which means that the female gives birth to about 7-10 live young, while others believe that this species lays eggs like other oviparous snakes.
E. miliaris is found in Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, southern Russia, and northwestern China.
