[2] EUL's headquarters are located outside the Nalubaale Hydroelectric Power Station in the town of Njeru, approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi), by road, east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.
Later, when the Kiira Hydroelectric Power Station came online in 2003, the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited contracted it to EUL as well.
The power generated is sold to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), the sole authorized bulk purchaser.
[9] Although fully owned by the South African parent company, EUL is allowed to exercise a wide degree of autonomy.
Its chief executive officer reports directly to the board of Eskom Holdings Limited.
