European Study Groups with Industry

On the Monday morning the industry representatives present problems of current interest to an audience of applied mathematicians.

After the meeting a report is prepared for the company, detailing the progress made and usually with suggestions for further work or experiments.

The current co-ordinator of the ESGIs is Prof. Tim Myers of the Centre de Recerca Matemática, Barcelona.

[12] Recent ESGIs include: As well as being held throughout Europe, annual study groups take place in Australia,[13] Brazil, Canada,[14] India, New Zealand,[15] United States, Russia, and South Africa.

The Mathematics in Industry Information Service contains a large repository of past reports from study groups throughout the world.

[21] A guide for organising and running study groups, the ESGI Handbook,[22] has been developed by the Mathematics for Industry Network.
