Eva Abdulla (Dhivehi: އީވާ ޢަބްދުﷲ; born 8 February 1978) is a Maldivian Politician who was the Deputy Speaker of the People's Majlis until resignation on 3 December 2023.
[1][2] She previously worked at the World Health Organization, the UNFPA, and was the Manager for the now-defunct local newspaper Minivan Daily.
[3] She served as a parliamentarian for three consecutive terms since 2009 for the Galolhu Uthuru constituency[3][4] and was a longtime member of the Maldivian Democratic Party, up until she left the party in May 2023.
[5] In 2023, she resigned as deputy speaker in the midst of a no-confidence motion being made against her by 50 parliamentarians.
The motion was brought against her due to her withdrawal from the MDP in violation of an agreement that stated that she should remain an MDP candidate once elected on an MDP ticket, as per her Anti-Defection bill[6] Eva graduated from the University of Kent, holding a BA in Politics and Government and a MA in Politics and International Relations from the University of Warwick, England, United Kingdom.
