On February 19, 2016, Reed signed with the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

On April 19, 2017, Reed signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

On July 30, 2014, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced that Reed was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

[15][16] On August 21, Judge Kenneth King dismissed two charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct against Reed as part of a plea bargain after hearing testimony from the alleged victim, her friend, and an investigator.

[18] On July 17, 2015, Reed pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor aggravated assault charge, and was sentenced to probation on August 7.
