Fair Media Council

Fair Media Council advocates for quality news and works to create a media-savvy society in a media-driven world.

FMC places a major emphasis on educating the public to become media savvy news consumers.

It is anti-consolidation in philosophy,[4] wanting as many independent media voices and reporters working within a market as possible to ensure the public is provided with a variety of news, sources and opinions.

[8] To address issues arising from the rapidly-fragmenting media landscape and fake news, the Fair Media Council revised its annual conference, Connection Day, and introduced "The News Conference: Real & Powerful" on Dec. 5, 2017.

Most recently, featured speakers at FMC events have included Dan Rather, Bill Keller, Maggie Haberman, Michael Wolff, Al Roker, Donny Deutsch, Rita Cosby, Neal Shapiro, Harry Siegel, Walt Handelsman, Helen Thomas, William F. Baker and Bob Woodruff.
