It is located in the town of Skudeneshavn on the southern tip of the island of Karmøy.
It is the church for the Falnes parish which is part of the Karmøy prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger.
[1][2] The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1620, but it was likely built much earlier.
Each church parish was a constituency that elected people called "electors" who later met together in each county to elect the representatives for the assembly that was to meet in Eidsvoll later that year.
[4][5] In 1851, a new church was constructed about 650 metres (0.40 mi) to the west so that it would be much closer to the growing village of Skudeneshavn.
