Ferdinand Pelzer

Ferdinand Pelzer (1801–1860) was a German music teacher, guitarist and composer.

[1] By 1821 he lived in Mülheim, where his daughter Catharina Josepha was born, who became known as the guitarist and composer "Madam Sidney Pratten".

[2] Pelzer traveled and taught widely in England and Ireland.

[1] Between 1833 and 1835, he was a co-editor (with Felix Horetzky and Leonhard Schulz) of The Giulianiad, an early guitar journal.

Although Pelzer's music teaching has been rather neglected, research into contemporary sources suggests that his method of teaching singing was better than those of Joseph Mainzer, Bocquillon Wilhem and John Hullah.
