[5] Averaging under 7 inches (180 mm) of precipitation per year, Fields is among the driest places in Oregon.
Local wildlife include pronghorn, mule deer, elk, bighorn sheep, pheasants, doves, geese, and ducks.
Due to the small size of Fields Elementary, the South Harney #33 board decided not to have a dedicated janitorial employee.
