Florence Hurd

[1] She competed in all the three women's speed skating events at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, United States, which were held as demonstration sport.

[7] Hurd stated on 8 January 1936 that she will not compete at the 1936 World Allround Speed Skating Championships for women in Oslo, Norway; the first official World Allround Speed Skating Championships for Women.

[8] After the Stanley Stadium in Copper Cliff was built, the region's first artificial ice surface, Hurd moved to the region together with her brother to train there.
