François Godbout

François Godbout (born April 10, 1938) is a Canadian lawyer, judge, sports administrator and former tennis player.

[1] A native of Waterloo, Quebec, Godbout made his debut for the Canada Davis Cup team in 1959 and came up against Rod Laver in his first rubber, losing in four sets.

[2] Godbout won the Quebec Indoor championship in 1960, including a win against Henri Rochon.

He had a win over Arthur Ashe in his run to the third round of the 1961 U.S. National Championships, which was his best grand slam performance.

In March 1964, Godbout defeated Lester Sack[3] in the semifinal of the Nice International Winter Championships, but the result of the projected final against Nicholas Kalogeropoulos was not reported.
