A native of San Francisco and based in Florida, Mires is credited with the launch of Spanish language network Telemundo's highly rated, flagship news magazine Ocurrió Así in 1990, hosted by Enrique Gratas and later by Pedro Sevcec.
The show, the first of its kind in the Spanish language national and International markets, was on the air for 11 years.
