[1][2] Francisco Sotomayor was born in Santo Tomé, Spain ordained a priest in the Order of Friars Minor.
[1][2] On May 22, 1623, he was appointed by the King of Spain and confirmed by Pope Urban VIII as Bishop of Quito.
[1][2] On August 18, 1624, he was consecrated bishop by Gonzalo del Campo, Archbishop of Lima.
[2] On June 5, 1628, he was appointed by the King of Spain and confirmed by Pope Urban VIII as Bishop of La Plata o Charcas.
[1][2] He served as Bishop of La Plata o Charcas until his death on February 5, 1630.
