Frank Robinson Hartley FRSC FRAeS (born 29 January 1942)[1] is a former vice-chancellor of Cranfield University (previously the Cranfield Institute of Technology) from 1989 to 2006.
[1] He was the son of Sir Frank Hartley CBE[2] a former vice chancellor of London University.
[1] He was post-doctoral fellow in protein chemistry at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Melbourne from 1966 to 1969.
He was then Imperial Chemical Industries Research Fellow and tutor in physical chemistry at University College London from 1969 to 1970.
[1] He then joined the Royal Military College of Science, Shrivenham (RMCS), as professor of chemistry and head of the department of chemistry and metallurgy from 1975 to 1982, acting dean from 1982 to 1984, principal and dean from 1984 to 1989.
