Franz-Josef Selig

Born in Mayen, Selig studied at the Musikhochschule Köln, first church music, later voice.

He focused on roles by Richard Wagner such as Marke in Tristan und Isolde[1] and Gurnemanz in Parsifal.

Selig made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival in 2012 as Daland in Der fliegende Holländer.

In the 2013/14 season, he first performed in Handel's Agrippina, and in Toulouse in Daphne by Richard Strauss.

Selig has recorded commercially for such labels as PENTATONE,[3] Deutsche Grammophon,[4] and LSO Live.
