Fred Besana (baseball)

Frederick Cyril Besana (April 5, 1931 – November 7, 2015) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Baltimore Orioles in 1956.

[1] Besana made his Major League debut on April 18, 1956, at the age of 25.

In total, he appeared in seven games in his sole big league season and posted a 1–0 record with a 5.60 ERA.

On April 22, he made the first of two career starts, picking up the victory against the Washington Senators.

In his first professional season, he won 18 games for the Sweetwater Swatters and Albuquerque Dukes, despite posting a 5.14 ERA.
