Fred Stephen Roberts (born June 19, 1943)[1] is an American mathematician, a professor of mathematics at Rutgers University, and a former director of DIMACS.
Roberts did his undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College,[1] and received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1968; his doctoral advisor was Dana Scott.
[2] After holding positions at the University of Pennsylvania, RAND, and the Institute for Advanced Study, he joined the Rutgers faculty in 1972.
[1] Roberts' research concerns graph theory and combinatorics, and their applications in modeling problems in the social sciences and biology.
[7] In 2003, DIMACS held a Conference on Applications of Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, in honor of Roberts' 60th birthday.
