Freedom Card

[1] The chip embedded in the card is a MIFARE DESFire EV1 with 4kb of storage, manufactured by NXP Semiconductors.

There are also plans to integrate the fare payment of the NJ Transit's River Line.

Freedom Share cards can only be purchased at the service centers at Broadway and Woodcrest stations (after filling out an application form), and can be replenished via all existing methods.

Due to the introduction of these cards, the sale of SEPTA tickets and discounted transfers from vending machines at PATCO stations was ended on September 30, 2018.

When entering a station, cardholders are required to tap their card at the fare gate to gain access to the boarding area.
