Funk Masters

[1] The band was formed by DJ Tony Williams (who was a reggae presenter on BBC Radio London) in 1979 and was his very first project.

Williams was working in a club on Carnaby Street, London and would "kind of rap" with friend Bo Kool to the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight", which had recently been released.

"Money In My Pocket" by Dennis Brown was popular at the time and Kool decided to write some lyrics based around it.

[5] The band's only chart success was the more soul song "It's Over", released in June 1983.
