Gabeba Baderoon

Gabeba Baderoon (born 21 February 1969) is a South African poet and academic.

She lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa, and Pennsylvania, US, and serves as an assistant professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, African Studies and Comparative Literature at Pennsylvania State University.

In 1989 she received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cape Town in English and Psychology.

Her dissertation was titled "Oblique Figures: Representations of Islam in South African Media and Culture."
