Galanchozhsky District

[3] In 1925, Galanchozhsky District was first formed, as a part of the Chechen Autonomous Oblast, where it existed until 1929.

In 1992, the district was again restored by the government of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in its pre-1944 borders.

This included Chechens (the majority at 95.7%), Russians (2.8%), Ingush (0.5%), and Ukrainians (0.4%), as well as other minority groups.

In the territory of the district, there are monuments dating back to the early and late Middle Ages.

[5] It was announced in late 2018 by Ramzan Kadyrov, that major development projects would begin in Galanchozhsky District in 2019.

Road construction began in the district in early 2019, and on 21 March of the same year, plans were revealed to reconstruct seven former villages in the district, including Aka-Bass, Yalkhara, Äkka, Khaybakha, Charmakha, Tsecha-Äkhk, and Merzha.
