It is run at Gowran Park in January, over a distance of about 3 miles (4,828 metres) and during the race there are 13 flights of hurdles to be jumped.
The race was first run in 2002 and was contested at Grade 3 level between 2003 and 2008.
The race is named in honour of the John Mulhern trained Galmoy, who won the Stayers' Hurdle in 1987 and 1988.
