George H. Rogers

George Holt Rogers (December 5, 1825 – December 21, 1915) was an American Democratic politician who served in the California State Assembly and California State Senate.

[1] While serving in the state Senate, Rogers wrote and introduced the Rogers Free Library Act which allowed cities to create taxpayer-funded public libraries free at the point of service.

He moved to San Francisco in 1849 during the California Gold Rush.

In 1895, he moved to Napa, California, where he died in 1915, aged 90.
