George Smith MBE FRSE FRCSE FACS (1919–1994) was a 20th century Scottish surgeon who emigrated to the United States of America.
He was born on 4 June 1919 in Carnoustie the son of John Shand Smith and his wife Lilimina Myles Mathers.
He then studied Medicine at St. Andrews University graduating MB ChB in 1942, and starting as an intern at Dundee Royal Infirmary.
In 1959 he became Chairman of the St Andrews Medical School and in 1960 became Professor of Surgery at the University of Aberdeen.
