Kostikos began playing football with Pierikos in 1975, and two years later he was acquired by PAOK.

Kostikos made 35 appearances and scored three goals for the Greece national football team from 1977 to 1984.

For the year 2007–2008 Kostikos managed Nea Salamina of Famagusta in Cyprus.

His brother Alekos (1953-1991) was a football goalkeeper and died in a car accident.

His son is Giorgos Kostikos.His family was Refugees of the Greek Civil War.
