They are the sister taxon to a larger clade consisting of Chiromantis, Feihyla, Taruga, Polypedates, and Rhacophorus.
They have a dorsal color pattern with dark brown prominent blotches.
Eggs develop in foam nests followed by a free-swimming tadpole stage.
