[1] After graduating from high school he joined the army in 1940 and served there during World War II.

[1] Then he graduated from the University of Bologna receiving a degree in literature.

[2] He was the deputy secretary of the Italian General Confederation of Labour from 1955 to 1960.

[2] He held the same position in the unified Italian Democratic Socialist Party-PSI party until 1968.

[2] Brodolini died of cancer at a hospital in Zürich on 11 July 1969.
