Gilbert Chabroux

Chabroux then taught at the ENNA Lyon-Villeurbanne after deployment of 28 months during the Algerian War.

[1][2] Chabroux became a member of the Young Socialist Movement in 1955,[1][2] and joined the Villeurbanne chapter of the French Section of the Workers' International three years later.

[2] In 1965, he was elected to the Villeurbanne municipal council as an ally of mayor Étienne Gagnaire [fr].

[2] His 1997 reelection to the mayoralty was legally challenged,[4] and suspended for a year.

[1] Chabroux was eventually allowed to retain the office, until he stepped down in 2001 to focus on his role in the Senate in which he had been seated as a representative of Rhône in 1995.
