Giovanni Gherardo De Rossi

Through his financial acumen he managed to restore the family fortunes, but also had time to pursue his interest in literature, architecture and design.

[3] In 1784, together with Onofrio Boni, he embarked on several publishing ventures with the launch of the Giornale delle belle arti e dell'incisione antiquaria, musica e poesia and then Le Memorie per le belle arti.

In 1788 he found success as a poet with the publication of seventy poems under the title Favole.

[5][6] From 1798 to 1800, he was appointed minister of finance during the Roman Republic proclaimed under the rule of Napoleon Bonaparte.
