Greg Bearup is an Australian journalist, author and international election expert.
In 2004/5 he took two years' leave from his job at the magazine and worked for the United Nations on the elections for Afghan refugees in Pakistan and Iraqis living in Syria.
He then spent six months in Bamyan, in the remote mountains of Central Afghanistan, working on the Afghan Parliamentary Elections in 2005.
[citation needed] In 2012, he published Exit Wounds, written with Major General John Cantwell.
The book details Cantwell's extraordinary war service and his ongoing battle with post traumatic stress disorder.
