Gregory O'Kelly

Gregory John O'Kelly SJ AM (born 10 August 1941) is an Australian Jesuit prelate of the Catholic Church and the former Bishop of Port Pirie.

In 1989, he was elected Chairman of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia, the first Catholic to hold that position.

On 15 April 2009 he was named Bishop of Port Pirie,[3] the diocese in northern South Australia where the pioneering Australian Jesuits established numerous schools and churches.

O'Kelly's family also have strong ties to this region of South Australia.

[4] On 3 June 2018 he was named Apostolic Administrator sede plena of the Archdiocese of Adelaide, where the ordinary, Philip Wilson had "stepped aside" after being convicted of failure to report allegations of sexual abuse to authorities.
