Gunnar Axel Engelbrekt Hultgren (19 February 1902 - 13 February 1991) was a Swedish bishop within the Church of Sweden.

He became an associate professor of systematic theology in Uppsala in 1940.

[2][3] In 1939 his doctoral thesis on Augustine's view of love was published as a book with the title, "Det evangeliska kärleksbudet hos Augustinus: dess filosofiska och teologiska tolkning i hans skrifter 386-400" (EN: The evangelical command-to-love in Augustine: its philosophical and theological interpretations in his works from 386 to 400 CE).
