HMS Barracouta (1804)

[1] Barracouta had been sailing in company with Pique and Port Mahon but became separated from them in a gale.

Because of bad weather and strong currents, and despite having kept a good lookout with soundings, she struck a reef of rocks during the night.

Dawn found her on a ridge running north–south and about three miles from Padro Kay near the Jardines (Cuba).

[3] Despite their best efforts, the crew was unable to save Barracouta as the waves pounded her onto the rocks, causing flooding.

All her crew were saved and they spent several days on nearby keys salvaging stores until she broke up.
