HMS Barracouta was a Royal Navy survey ship.
It accompanied HMS Leven in 1821 to 1826 in order to map Africa's eastern coastline.
[1] The expedition was led by British explorer and naval officer Vice Admiral William Fitzwilliam Owen.
[3] Barracouta was converted to a barque-rigged packet in 1829 and sold in 1836.
