HMS Sultana (1780)

HMS Sultana was the mercantile Sprightly, which the Royal Navy purchased in June 1780.

The Admiralty bought Sprightly in June 1780, and then spent the next three plus months having her fitted and coppered at Sheerness.

[2] In December 1780 Sultana seized and sent into Dover the Dutch vessel Herstelder, Kemp Janssen Klein, master, as she was sailing from Amsterdam to Mogador and Sallee.

[1] While she was under Fabian's command, she captured the Dutch ships Flora and Kingsburg, and the French boats Cigale, Providence, and Heureux St Pierre.
