Hal Hale

Hal Hale was an American basketball player and coach.

In addition to playing basketball, Hale became the first student body president of Hillcrest High School.

[2][4] Hale became the first professional athlete to graduate from Hillcrest High School.

[5] Hale's professional basketball career was cut short when he was drafted into the United States Army and sent to serve in the Vietnam War as a combat medic, winning the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

[2] After his Army service, Hale returned to Jordan High School and became its head basketball coach, winning a state championship in 1984 and two division championships.
