[1] Halsetown is an industrial village planned by the solicitor and politician James Halse and built in the 1830s.
[2] James Halse founded the village in the early 1830s in order to provide housing for his workers, making it one of the earliest planned settlements in England.
[5] A mission chapel was opened on 6 November 1878 because the parish church at St Ives, was too far for parishioners to attend.
[6] The village is administered by St Ives Town Council.
The actor Henry Irving was brought up in the village, fostered by his aunt, Mrs Penberthy.
