He is the president of the National Council on US-Libya Relations, and has participated in the activities of the world economic forums and in United Nations Development Programs on education, economic reforms and the status of women in Libya and the Arab world.

Shennib was elected president of the National Council on Canada Arab Relations and the Board of Governors of Concordia University in Montreal.

Shennib is a consultant on global health care issues and has advised several governments of developing nations on new healthcare programs and reforms, including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Kazakhstan and Libya.
