Hanover Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, United States.

As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,201 and it contained 689 housing units.

[2] According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 56.83 square miles (147.2 km2), of which 52.1 square miles (135 km2) (or 91.68%) is land and 4.73 square miles (12.3 km2) (or 8.32%) is water.
