The racial makeup of the township was 98.34% White, 0.28% Native American, 0.14% Pacific Islander, and 1.24% from two or more races.

22.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

Haynes Township is served entirely by Alcona Community Schools.
